Five Vogues, One First Lady, and a Store With No Review Button

Thirty-one pieces reached The RealReal and most of them sold. Nobody who wore one has written a sentence about it.

Did not pass

The “AG” in AGMES stands for Andrew. He was the founder’s late friend, a person described on the brand’s about page as “a compassionate soul” who was “determined to leave the world better than he found it.”

Morgan Lang started the brand in 2016 in New York City, combining Andrew’s initials with her own maiden initials.

She named a jewelry line after someone who would never wear it.

That origin matters because it explains why AGMES feels the way it does. The collection draws from Alberto Giacometti, Barbara Hepworth, Man Ray, and Ellsworth Kelly. Every piece is handmade to order by a small team in a Tribeca studio at 79 Walker Street, open to walk-ins Monday through Friday.

The metals are recycled sterling silver and 18-karat gold vermeil. Scrap gets melted down and reused. Net-a-Porter gave AGMES its NET SUSTAIN badge, which requires third-party verification of sustainability claims. That is not a badge brands can buy.

We evaluated the Small Gia Studs, a pair of domed sculptural earrings in recycled sterling silver. They retail for $260 on Net-a-Porter. They are 0.5 inches across. They weigh 5 grams each. They close with a butterfly back on a sterling silver post. Finematter, the Danish fine jewelry platform, calls them hollowed organic round studs and notes the gold plating is 3 microns thick, the maximum used in jewelry, durable for four to five years.

What We Verified

AGMES is stocked at Net-a-Porter (39 products as of our research date), Shopbop, Vince, Finematter, Glasswing in Seattle, Assembly New York, Garmentory, and Reliquary in San Francisco.

The Small Gia Studs specifically appear on Net-a-Porter, Shopbop (sold out at time of research), Finematter, and Vince. On The RealReal, 31 authenticated AGMES pieces were listed, the majority already sold. The Small Gia Studs appeared there at an estimated retail of $260, sold for $210.

That secondary market activity confirms real people buy AGMES, wear it, and it retains value on resale.

The brand’s press page lists features we could verify by name and date. Vogue featured AGMES five separate times between March 2024 and May 2025, including a piece titled “Welcome Back to the Age of Great Silver Jewelry.” The New York Times ran an article in April 2024 in which AGMES appeared alongside Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph. People featured the brand in November 2025 in a story about Michelle Obama. Allure included it in a September 2025 feature on Selena Gomez. The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon featured AGMES in March 2026 in a segment with Hilary Duff.

Harper’s Bazaar Japan profiled Morgan Lang as a founder in December 2025. Elle Korea, Vogue France, Vogue Australia, Vogue Philippines, and Vogue Scandinavia all ran separate features.

On Instagram, AGMES has 68,000 followers. On Thingtesting, the review platform, the brand’s page reads: “Write the first review.”

Where It Stopped

We searched every platform we could access.

The AGMES Shopify store has no review widget installed. Not a widget with zero reviews. No widget at all. There is no mechanism for a customer to leave feedback on agmesnyc.com. Net-a-Porter does not display product-level reviews in its search results. Shopbop showed no reviews. Finematter showed no reviews. Vince showed no reviews. Glasswing showed no reviews. Thingtesting showed no reviews. We searched for “AGMES” on Trustpilot and found no page for agmesnyc.com. We searched Reddit. We searched Amazon.

We found organic TikTok unboxing content but no structured customer feedback anywhere.

This is not a brand with thin reviews. This is a brand where the concept of customer reviews does not structurally exist.

Our confidence scoring system awarded AGMES 50 out of 100. Platform integrity: 0 out of 20 (no review platform exists). Review volume: 5 out of 20. Visual proof from customers: 15 out of 20 (Brand Trust Protocol applied for the premium retail validation). Claim verification: 10 out of 20 (founding story, press features, and sustainability claims all confirmed across independent sources). External echo: 20 out of 20, the maximum, because the editorial and institutional validation is among the strongest we have encountered.

That 50 translates to a trust score of 5.0 out of 10.

The Score

GLOW (visual appeal): 8 out of 10. Sculptural domed sterling silver catches light at every angle. High-polish recycled metal with organic curves. Clean white product photography on the brand site.

WOW (discovery factor): 9 out of 10. Five Vogue editions, The New York Times, People, and the Tonight Show featured this brand. Net-a-Porter gave it their sustainability certification. Michelle Obama wore it. Most gift shoppers have never heard the name.

MOMENT (gift scene): 8 out of 10. Small box opens to reveal two sculpted silver domes. Deceptively light on the ear. The kind of earring that becomes a daily signature piece, worn from desk to dinner, which is exactly what reviewers on Finematter and the brand’s own team describe.

TRUST: 5.0 out of 10. Extraordinary institutional validation. Zero customer validation.

Final score: 7.90. Threshold: 8.00. Gap: one tenth of a point.

What Would Change

A review infrastructure. If customers who buy AGMES had a place to leave feedback, the trust score would almost certainly shift. The secondary market on The RealReal shows 31 transactions. The editorial record shows two decades of coverage across the most credible publications in fashion. The retail distribution spans three continents.

What is missing is not evidence that people like AGMES. What is missing is a place for them to say so.

More verified reviews across any credible platform would move the confidence score above the threshold where trust alone stops holding the overall score below 8.0.

We spent hours verifying a brand that five Vogue editors, Net-a-Porter’s sustainability team, and Michelle Obama already endorsed. Our system still said no.

That is either a flaw or a feature, depending on how you feel about methodologies that do not make exceptions for fame.

We think it is a feature.
