Mauro Gobbi founded Il Bussetto in Milan in 2004. His product page states the technique directly: the leather is moulded on wooden forms, and the craft technique allows the production of small leather goods devoid of any seams.

We confirmed the Lemaire collaboration, which has been running since 2013, beginning with the TACCO bag and continuing through a selection of handcrafted accessories in vegetable-tanned leather. Lemaire prices their card holder at over 150 EUR. At $82, the Il Bussetto delivers the same workshop and the same method at roughly half the price.

Trunk Clothiers stocks Il Bussetto. Peggs and Son stocks Il Bussetto. Both are selective menswear retailers in London that carry Alden and Paraboot.

Heddels published a Fade of the Day feature in January 2018, documenting visible patina on an Il Bussetto card holder after eight months of daily front-pocket carry. AllTheWallets reviewed the bifold and compared the leather and craftsmanship to some of the best wallet manufacturers.

One Research Finding We Did Not Expect

AllTheWallets reviewed the Il Bussetto bifold and stated the leather will never develop a patina. Heddels documented the opposite: visible tonal contrast on a card holder after eight months of daily carry.

The moulded card holder may age differently than the flat bifold AllTheWallets tested. We cannot resolve this discrepancy from the available evidence, but we documented it.
