It is the lamp that created the portable lighting category in 2014, won the Red Dot Award in 2016, and spawned more copies than any cordless lamp in production.
We verified 136 reviews across specialized lighting platforms, traced every credential, and scored the original against the same 145 data points we apply to every product. The copies took the dome silhouette. They left behind everything that earned this score.
What GLOW Measures and Why the FollowMe Scored 9
GLOW accounts for 25% of the SleekNova Score and evaluates visual and sensory qualities: materials, finish, how the object photographs, how it ages, and design intentionality.
The FollowMe scored 9 because of a specific combination: a sculpted oak handle, a domed opal polycarbonate diffuser, brass rivets, and a lantern silhouette that reads as a design object when turned off.
Five color options inspired by Mallorca (pink, blue, terracotta, green, and classic white-oak) add personality without diluting the form. The natural oak develops warmth with handling, and the brass details gain patina over time.
A $30 copy on Amazon replicates the dome shape in molded plastic. It does not replicate oak, brass, opal, or the fact that the original sits in the Design Museum Barcelona permanent collection.
The Foundry, the Designer, the Archive Lamp

Marset started as a metal foundry in Barcelona in the 1940s. In 2014, Inma Bermudez became the brand’s first female designer. She found the Flass, a cordless lamp from Marset’s own 1970s archive, and spent two years reimagining it.
“I started working on this lamp two years ago,” she said in her Marset interview. “Objects have a soul, they convey something to you, they speak to you, they are made to be touched and used.”
The result won the Red Dot Award for Product Design in 2016. The 2026 version adds triple color temperature (2200K, 2700K, 3000K), a progressive dimmer replacing the old three-click system, and USB-C charging. The silhouette is identical. Everything inside is new.

TRUST accounts for 15% of the final score and measures verification confidence. The FollowMe scored 7.3, giving it a confidence level of 73 out of 100.
We verified 4.8 stars from 110 reviews on light11.eu, a specialized European lighting retailer. An additional 26 reviews on Lumens brought the total to 136 across platforms where buyers are specifically shopping for design lighting, not general merchandise.
These are tier-2 review sources: not mass-market, but highly relevant to the product category.
We also found an older Amazon listing (discontinued, 3.6 out of 5, 15 reviews) and Trustpilot reviews for the Marset brand (2.1 out of 5, 10 reviews). Both showed battery complaints.
The pattern was clear: battery failures on pre-2021 units. These complaints are absent from the 110-review light11.eu dataset, which skews toward recent purchases. The 2026 refresh claims an optimized battery, but independent verification of the fix is pending.

The discovery pattern we found across reviews tells a consistent story. A Lumens buyer saw the lamp at a hotel rooftop and ordered one. A couple spotted it at a restaurant in Cabo, photographed the name on the base, and ordered two when they got home.
A light11.eu reviewer who already owned three bought two more. People who buy one FollowMe tend to buy more. That pattern does not exist for a $30 copy, because copies do not earn the kind of attachment that drives repeat purchases.
Who This Lamp Is For
The FollowMe is a gift from a husband to a wife who fights candles on the terrace every summer evening. It is a Mother’s Day gift for a mom whose lighting does not follow her routine: kitchen at 7am, porch at 3pm, bedside at 10pm.
It is a housewarming gift that solves the immediate problem of a new terrace with no outlets, while looking like the restaurant lamp both friends noticed last month.
At $370, it is a serious commitment, and we scored it as one: 8.1 overall, with a 9 for the design that earned its place in a museum and a 7.3 for the trust data that includes both the praise and the complaints.
Skip it for someone who needs bright task lighting (4.7W maximum), wants poolside or wet-location use (IP20, dry locations only), or cannot justify $370 when copies exist at $30. For portable ambient at a lower price point, the Lexon Mina M does the job for $49.90.
