Brian Keaney was a 24-year-old Irish student at Helsinki’s University of Art and Design when he designed the Tonfisk Design WARM Cup as his 1998 graduation project.
The brief was personal: his dad drank tea constantly but hated burning his fingers on the mug.
Keaney wrapped walnut around porcelain. That solution is now in the permanent collection of Les Arts Decoratifs in Paris.
