Seletti Won a Design Award in 2015. We Found Four Reviews in 2026.

Feedback did collect somewhere: an unclaimed company profile at 1.7, about service, never about this vase.

Did not pass

Romano Seletti started importing tin cups and plastic tablecloths to local Italian markets in 1964. His children, Stefano and Miria, turned the family company into one of Italy’s most recognizable design brands.

Today Seletti SpA operates from Cicognara in Mantova, producing objects that the company describes as “art blended with daily life icons.” The Cosmic Diner Starman Vase is one of those objects.

It is a porcelain astronaut. Twenty-eight centimeters tall, white with a gold-reflective visor, carrying a backpack with an opening just wide enough for a dried flower or two.

The vase is not waterproof. Diesel Living, the home division of the Italian fashion brand founded in 1978, designed it as part of the Cosmic Diner collection, which celebrates the first steps taken on the moon. The collection won the Wallpaper Design Award in 2015.

What We Verified

The product is currently listed at $161 on the official Seletti US store. We confirmed it is in stock. On Farfetch, the gold variant is listed at approximately $100 (EUR 91). Amazon US carries the listing under ASIN B01N58R5I7, though it currently shows as unavailable.

We found four global ratings on Amazon, all five stars. Two reviews are from US buyers with Verified Purchase badges.

One, posted in April 2020, reads: “Wonderful product. Exactly as shown. Packaging was super to ensure he arrived in perfect condition.” The other, from December 2018, gave five stars but noted cosmetic imperfections on arrival.

That is the entire product-level consumer record we could locate. Four ratings across eight years of availability.

The Brand, Not the Product

Seletti as a brand is not invisible. Amazon flags Diesel (the brand on this listing) as a “Top Brand” with over 100,000 customers rating items highly and more than 10,000 orders in the past three months.

Seletti’s Hybrid tableware collection carries meaningful review volumes on Amazon: 37 ratings at 4.7 stars, 28 ratings at 4.4 stars, 34 ratings at 4.3 stars. The brand has demonstrated it can earn consumer trust on other products.

However, none of that data applies to this specific vase. Our methodology requires product-level verification. Brand-level data can supplement, but it cannot substitute.

We checked Trustpilot. Seletti’s company profile carries 26 reviews with a TrustScore of 1.7 out of 5. The profile is unclaimed.

Of the 26 reviews, 85 percent are one-star ratings. The complaints center on customer service response times and, for Seletti’s lamp products specifically, concerns about proprietary replacement components.

These are company-level signals about service and fulfillment, not product-level quality assessments. But they do not help the trust picture.

The Scores

GLOW scored 9 out of 10. The white porcelain with gold-reflective visor photographs as a sculptural object. It reads as contemporary art on a shelf.

WOW scored 8 out of 10. Most gift-givers have never encountered the Seletti brand despite its 62-year history, and the concept of an astronaut carrying flowers is genuinely unexpected.

MOMENT scored 8 out of 10. The unwrapping produces the reaction the product was designed for.

Trust scored 2.7 out of 10. We calculated a confidence score of 27 out of 100.

Platform integrity earned 10 points (Amazon Verified Purchase exists, but the review base is too thin to assess patterns). Volume and velocity earned 2 points (four reviews across eight years, far below the 15-review minimum for statistical relevance).

Visual proof earned 0 points (we found zero customer photos anywhere). Sentiment consistency earned 5 points (positive, but meaningless at this sample size).

External validation earned 10 points (Wallpaper Design Award 2015 is verified, Gessato editorial feature is confirmed, Farfetch stocking is confirmed).

The formula: (9 x 0.25) + (8 x 0.35) + (8 x 0.25) + (2.7 x 0.15) = 7.46. Below the 8.0 threshold.

The trust score of 2.7 is also below the 4.0 floor, which means this product cannot proceed regardless of how the other dimensions performed.

Why This Matters

The Starman Vase won a design award from one of the industry’s most respected publications. It comes from a brand that has operated continuously for over six decades. The Diesel collaboration connects it to a globally recognized fashion house.

Gessato, a design publication we respect, called it “just as much an art piece as it is a functional item.” We agree with that assessment.

None of that replaces consumer verification.

A Wallpaper Award tells us the design community approves. Four Amazon reviews do not tell us whether the porcelain arrives intact, whether the visor coating holds over time, whether the object feels worth $161 when it sits on a shelf.

Those are questions only verified buyers can answer, and almost no verified buyers have.

What Would Change

A broader base of verified reviews across multiple platforms would shift the confidence score. The brand has shown it can generate consumer feedback on its Hybrid tableware line.

If similar engagement developed around the Starman Vase, the trust calculation would look materially different.

The design credentials and brand heritage are already strong. The consumer evidence is what our system could not find.
